Dear Christian and Jewish Friends,

We have received letters from our Customers asking why, when they visited our "Passover" department, they found Christian merchandise rather than the traditional Jewish Passover items - Good Question!  For those who do not know this, the Israelites left their bondage in Egypt during Passover; and Jesus Christ was, many years later, crucified and resurrected during the Jewish Passover Feast.

Jesus and all of His disciples, (who are later called Apostles) were Israelites/Jews.  God's Law, given to Moses at Mt. Sinai, commanded that all Jews celebrate three yearly Feasts, including Passover, at the Temple in Jerusalem.  In fact, Jesus who is from the tribe of Judah, was in Jerusalem for the Passover Feast (later referred to as the "Last Supper" by Christians) when He was crucified and resurrected in behalf of mankind.

In Matthew 26:2 Christians are told that Jesus, knowing of His own forthcoming death said:  "You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified" (NKJV).

The Apostle John later tells Christians that Pilate said to the Jews during Jesus' public trial, "But you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Do you therefore want me to release to you the King of the Jews?" (John 18:39 ; NKJV)

The Bible tells us that as Jesus' ate His last supper (Passover) with His disciples just before His death He took the bread, "blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, 'Take, eat; this is My body'.  Then He took the {wine} cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, 'Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matt 26:26-28; NKJV).  Today Christians and Jews both partake of the Passover, or communion, wine and bread as they were commanded.

The Bible even explains why Jesus was crucified and resurrected during this time saying, "Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth"  (1 Cor 5:7-8; NKJV).

Paul's mention of "leavened" and "unleavened" bread, above, is a direct reference to Israel's exodus from Egypt and the fact that they didn't have time to allow their bread to rise before their departure from their bondage; and Jehovah's (Yahweh's) later commandment that the Israelites not eat leavened bread for the seven days during the Feast of Unleavened Bread and Passover in memory of this time.  Because Paul was both a Jew and a teacher of the Christian faith, he of course made this statement in order to teach the truth of what Christ had/has done for mankind.

Actually, Passover is only one of the important holidays Christians and Jews have reason to celebrate. For example, the Israelites received Moses external Law at Mt Sinai on Pentecost 50 days after the first Passover when the Israelites left Egypt and physical bondage.  Many years later Jewish converts (to Christianity) received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost {see Acts 2} 50 days after Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection during the Passover. Christians are taught, in the Bible, that they receive the internal law of God within their heart through the Holy Spirit when they accept both Christ's sacrifice in their behalf and Yahweh's {Jehovah's} Spirit (who is holy).  Yahweh gave this gift, to all confessing Christ as their savior from sin, for the first time during the Feast of Pentecost 50 days after Christ's resurrection during Passover.

Same Holidays - same God, Yahweh (Jehovah)- same heart of love!

God Bless us all with His fullness, Chris and Dick Williams  http://globaldiscount.net
